Meditations

The work “Meditations” is part of the project Lenin’s Last Journey, an art research project on the sculpture of Saint Ignatius of Loyola on the façade of the Church of Cristo Rey in Pasto, Nariño, which is said to represent not the Jesuit saint but Vladimir Lenin.  

For this piece, a bust of the Saint was commissioned from a renowned master of the Carnaval de Blancos y Negros, Andrés Barrera, who, using current float-making techniques, gave us a free version of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, which we intervened with a video projection, producing a state of confusion between revolutionary discourse and the singing of the Jesuit hymn.
