When someone says: “esa imagen se me quedó grabada” (that image stuck in my mind), they are expressing the impact of having observed it. This is the aspect I seek to highlight in the work Recorded photo/ Foto grabadaThe project proposes a reflection on the meaning of the word 'Recorded,' which refers both to the act of not forgetting and the technical process used.
In this series, I am interested in showing the organic nature of the photosensitive emulsion, altered by a series of scratches, wrinkles, smudges and chemical stains, caused intentionally or unintentionally by external factors. These elements add to the original image, giving it an emotional dimension and engraving a second story on the photograph. Moreover, the fact that these images will no longer be part of an album to be archived reinforces the idea of using the photoengraving technique, which allows me to preserve their photographic aspect and, at the same time, transform their scales and adopt the traditional montage of works on paper. In this way, I accentuate the transition from the private to the public.
