Agua Fuerte is a continuation of the work SaudadeThe title in Spanish “Agua fuerte” refers to a water that has strength and resists, but if the two words are joined, it forms the word “Aguafuerte”, which is an artist technique: etching.
This technique interests me especially because its name allows me to make a symbolic connection with the strength of water and its ability to resist the pollution to which it has been subjected, a product of coal mining on the beaches of the Colombian Caribbean. In addition, it is a technique that has a historical link with the study of landscape and nature in expeditions, as it was a medium that allowed to effectively circulate the images.
It is important to point out that the work does not show the finished etching, but the process through the multiple copies that are generated, arranged in a grid that goes from a gray gradient to total black. The engraving tests are presented together with a video that shows how the water, loaded with coal particles, leaves on the beach a series of traces that evoke a landscape.
